Cloris Awards Background // reflection

After talking with Michael Morain in class today, it sounds like there are a plethora of opportunities to help the Cloris Awards design a cohesive brand identity.

The most important aspect of this project will be the website. It will function as the central hub for all information relating to the Cloris Awards: eligibility, dates, etc. People (whether active in the Des Monies theater community or just interested in getting a taste of what it’s like) should be able to access the site and find out everything they need to know about what the Cloris Awards are, how they work, and how they can get involved. People love stories, so somehow the site should tell the story of who Cloris Leachman is, and how the Cloris Awards came to be. Perhaps this is an opportunity for an animation? A video? Graphics? An interactive timeline? Telling this story will help the brand become more trustworthy and friendly, too. The site should link to social media and it needs to be easily editable so that as the awards continue to be refined, those updates can be made by anyone.

There seem to be many opportunities for other designs: signage and a slideshow for the actual event, re-desigining the logo, re-designing the trophies… It could be fun to create buttons or stickers that can be distributed among the community to both invite the general public to the awards show and also spread the word about the Cloris Awards in general. Since they are aiming to be inviting and friendly, yet trustworthy and an authority in the theater community, anything we can do to help the general public see more about the awards and understand that they are welcome will be helpful.

I’m excited to see where this project takes us!
